Studies
show that many teen risky behaviors lead to others. Teens who drink are more likely
to engage in sexual activity. Teens who use drugs are more likely to have friends
who are sexually active. Depression is also linked to most risky behaviors. It
is impossible to separate one teen issue out from the group and focus solely on
its prevention. True health and character education needs to address the whole
teen and start at the beginning: building self-respect and a sense of self-worth.
This education also needs to connect youth with the greater society - to encourage
communication and involvement within the family and community. Take a look at
our topic and program offerings to see how our work truly makes a difference and
how it could make a difference in the lives around you.
