Healthy Relationships

When it comes to relationships, both romantic and platonic, teens are in desperate need of guidance. As marriage and family life in the United States undergo dramatic upheavals, with 40% of all marriages ending in divorce, many teens have not had positive and healthy relationships modeled for them. New evidence of abuse and manipulation within teen relationships, as well as evidence of growing problems with bullying and gang involvement, prove that teens are struggling to understand their own worth and place within the context of peer relationships.

Depending on the age of the participants, our lessons about healthy relationships cover topics such as:

  • friendship
  • peer groups
  • respect for all persons
  • pressures
  • love vs. infatuation
  • boundary setting
  • date rape and recognizing dating dangers.
  • positive self-respect
  • effective communication
  • decision-making
  • conflict resolution
  • understanding consequences of risk-behavior
  • recognizing benefits of positive choices
