Youth Solutions is a highly successful abstinence project developed under a federally funded demonstration project through a grant from the Department of health and Human Services (Title XX). The Youth Solutions Abstinence Curricula include 5th and 6th grades, Middle School, Senior High, Parent Materials, and a Parent-Teen Workshop.”

More than a “Just Say No” program, Youth Solutions covers a wide range of topics.

• It works to reduce the incidence of teen sexual activity. An independent evaluation found that Youth Solutions students experienced a 45% lower transition rate into sexual activity than their peers who received “regular” sex education.

Northwest Family Services now offers a Peer Leader Training Manual has all the necessary components for teaching high school students to be knowledgeable and confident leaders promoting abstinence.

The manual includes recruiting information, reproducible letters and forms, training materials, and 15 color overheads. Students learn role plays, refusal skills, medical information, leadership tips, and more! $35.00 each.

Designed for middle school students, this program addresses the specific concerns of Latino students in the Portland, OR area.
